The story follows Batman and Superman as they butt heads in how to deal with the newly-found Supergirl (Kara Zor-El). The latter half of the book deals with Darkseidand his machinations as he bids to get Kara from the Worlds Finest Duo.
A few years later, we know that Kara turns out fine. She joins the LOSH as well as briefly rolled with the Teen Titans.
Batman discovers a mysterious teen-aged girl with super-human powers and a connection to Superman. When the girl comes to the attention of Darkseid, the evil overlord of Apokolips, events take a decidedly dangerous turn.
